Finding a job in India right now

Finding jobs in India right now feels broken. Every platform has 1000 applicants in 2 hours, recruiters ghost, and half the “remote” jobs are just hybrid roles hiding behind filters. I’m honestly figuring this out myself too, but after spending a month applying, stalking careers pages, and testing different platforms, these are the sites that actually seem useful.

The biggest mistake is relying on only one platform. Most good jobs are distributed across weird corners of the internet.

Remote Job Platforms

  • DailyRemote — huge collection of remote roles across design, engineering, marketing, product, support, etc.
  • Remote100K — focused on higher-paying remote jobs, mostly tech/product/design/startup roles.
  • NoDesk — simple, clean remote job listings without the LinkedIn chaos.
  • Dynamite Jobs — good remote startup jobs, especially async-friendly companies.
  • Remotive — remote-only platform with lots of global roles and India-friendly filters.
  • Remote OK — especially good for developers, designers, and startup jobs.
  • We Work Remotely — one of the oldest remote-job boards.
  • JustRemote — underrated platform for international remote work.
  • Wellfound — startup jobs. Honestly one of the best for designers and early-stage roles.

Indian Job Platforms

  • LinkedIn Jobs — still unavoidable. But don’t just apply normally. DM founders, recruiters, or design leads directly.
  • Naukri — ugly UI, weird calls, but still extremely active in India.
  • Indeed India — surprisingly good for smaller companies and remote listings.
  • Glassdoor Jobs — useful mainly for salary research and company reviews.
  • Foundit — formerly Monster India.
  • Cutshort — startup and tech-focused jobs in India.
  • Instahyre — companies approach you directly sometimes.

What Actually Helped More Than “Easy Apply”

The painful truth: cold applying alone barely works anymore.

A few things that improved response rates for me:

  • applying within the first few hours
  • messaging humans instead of portals
  • writing very short emails
  • having a portfolio that instantly explains who you are
  • posting your work publicly
  • applying even if you meet 60–70% of requirements
  • targeting smaller companies instead of giant brands
  • emailing founders directly for startup roles

For designers specifically, I’ve noticed smaller startups care less about degrees and more about whether you can think, prototype, and communicate clearly.

Hidden Job Sources Most People Ignore

Some of the best opportunities never reach job boards.

  • company career pages
  • Twitter/X hiring posts
  • Discord communities
  • Reddit job threads
  • YC startup directories
  • GitHub hiring discussions
  • indie hacker communities
  • Telegram/WhatsApp startup groups

The Hard Part Nobody Mentions

Job hunting messes with your confidence.

You start thinking “maybe I’m not good enough” when in reality:

  • recruiters are overloaded
  • companies post ghost jobs
  • hiring freezes happen silently
  • internal referrals dominate hiring

I’m literally in this process myself right now, trying to figure it out while building stuff through nirmit and myto. So this isn’t “here’s how I cracked jobs.” It’s more like:

“these are the paths that at least seem alive.”

And honestly, the people I’ve seen land good jobs fastest are usually the ones consistently making things publicly — prototypes, case studies, videos, experiments, open-source work, writing, anything.
